The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been confirmed by the Senate for a second term of 5 years.
The CBN governor was before the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions on Wednesday for screening after he was nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term in office.
The Senate had given the committee a one week grace to carry out the screening and report back to the house.
The committee, chaired by Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim (PDP, Kwara), commenced the screening at noon on Wednesday.
Recall that Naija News had reported that President Buhari last week wrote to the Senate requesting that Emefiele be confirmed as the CBN governor for a second term.
Though the appointment of the CBN Governor has been challenged by some, Emefiele has been approved by the house for the second term in office.
