The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent governor of the Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa as winner of the governorship election in the state.
Naija News reports that Okowa was declared winner after he defeated his counterpart from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Great Ogboru in the Saturday, March 09 election.
The state returning officer, Seth Accra-Jaja who confirmeed this in a statement obtained by Naija News, said the candidate of the PDP polled 925, 271 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Great Ogboru of the APC who scored 215, 938 votes.
Accra-Jaja who’s also the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa, pegged the number of registered voters at 2,831,205 while the number of accredited voters is 1,188,784.
In her words, Accra-Jaja said; “The election was keenly contested by different candidates and Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of the PDP polled a total number of 925, 274 votes to defeat his first runner up , Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressive Congress who polled a total of 215, 938 votes.”
