The Secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is still working hard to arrange another friendly match between the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs of Egypt to be played during the October 2019 FIFA window.
Sportinglife.ng learnt exclusively from sources in the team that only the match date is yet to be agreed on while the paperwork on the match was still in progress as at the time of filing this report.
“The Federation (NFF) is working hard to seal an international friendly against the Pharaohs of Egypt. In fact, the major thing delaying the announcement of the match is the date the match will be played”, the inside sources disclosed.
But when contacted, the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr denied knowledge about the friendly. “No news about a friendly against Egypt”, Rohr told Sportinglife.ng.
The Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation Dr Muhamned Sanusi also refused to
confirm the friendly.
“Right now I am not feeling fine. I am down with malaria. But I am not aware of any Eagles friendly against Egypt. I am only aware of the Brazil game”, The NFF Scribe also said.
There are two FIFA window friendly dates for the month of October which are scheduled for between
October 9 and 15. While the Eagles have secured an international friendly against the Samba Boys of
Brazil for October 13 this year. Super Eagles beat Egypt in a friendly match at the Stephen Keshi
International Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, when Eagles’ new call up Paul
Onuachu scored 10 seconds fastest goal ever recorded by any Eagles’ player to earn Nigeria victory against the Pharaohs in the match. Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot.

Rohr has already told his players that the two proposed friendly matches in October would be used as important preparatory matches for the AFCON 2021 qualifier against Squirrels Benin Republic slated for Nigeria on November 11, 2019.
