President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Nigerian Senate to approve the nomination of Justice Tanko Mohammed as the substantive Chief Justice of the country.
Naija News understands that the President made his request known in a letter sent to the National Assembly and read by the Senate President during plenary on Thursday.
2. Police Arrest Shi’ite Members After Protest And Clash In Lagos
The dramatic protest of the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) against the federal government has continued on Thursday.
The protesters are demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky from government custody where he has been since his arrest in 2015.

5. Atiku Vs Buhari: Presidential Election Results Were Doctored In My Presence – Witness
Yahaya Shiko, a retired major, who served as the collation agent for the Peoples Democratic Party in the Kaduna South Local Government of Kaduna State during the presidential election, while speaking before the Presidential Election Tribunal on Thursday claimed that the results of the February 23 election were doctored in his presence in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Shiko, the 20th petitioners’ witness of PDP at the Tribunal, stated that the election in his area was marred by over-voting and allocation of figures to political parties that participated in the election.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has finally banned the selling of the agrochemical killer product (Sniper) in open shops and supermarkets.
Naija News understands that the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Moji Adeyeye, who announced this in a statement said the implementation of the ban will commence on September 1st 2019.
